As the fallout continues from St. Louis sports talk station 590 The Fan KFNS stopping all local programming and airing strictly FOX Sports Radio, another of its former hosts has found a new venture. Longtime St. Louis Post-Dispatch sports columnist and sports radio host Bernie Miklasz has launched a new YouTube channel.
“It’s still a work in progress, but the Bernie Miklasz Show is up and running on YouTube,” Miklasz posted on social media. “Here’s my first episode and I hope you subscribe and please get the word out. Thanks!”
Miklasz told BSM his plan is to drop videos each weekday that will be around 10 or 12 minutes and he said the videos will post no later than 12 p.m. CT. “This is a nice adventure,” he said. “I really should have jumped onto this platform sooner. I’m honored to have such a loyal following, and already there are signs of heart-warming enthusiasm for my videos. I think this can be everything I want at this stage of my career.”
Miklasz said people have been very supportive of him after just a couple of days. “It means more to me than I’ll ever know,” he said. “I have subscribers offering me technical advice, making suggestions to improve the volume of views. They want to assist this old goat. It’s really amazing. I’m grateful.”
He said he envisions this being a gradual process where he will add more as he goes and plans to add some guests as well. “One step at a time,” he said.
Most of all, Miklasz is excited about the opportunity to be able to do whatever he wants with the new channel. “It’s all about what I really want to do instead of what I NEED to do,” he said. “It’s liberating.”
Miklasz has covered the St. Louis sports scene since 1985 when he first arrived in the city. He has done sports talk on KMOX, 101 ESPN and 590 The Fan. He also currently writes daily columns for the Scoops Sports Network in St. Louis.
