Doug Kramer is out as the morning host at Alternative KDJE (100.3 The Edge)/Litte Rock, AR. He had just joined the station this past April. He wrote, “Friday was my last day with 100.3 The Edge. This budget cut feels a little different. I really was having a great time with my old roommate Kevin Cruise, and Robyn fit so naturally with us. I looked forward to work every morning. More importantly my family really benefited from this new schedule. Working back in local radio allowed me to scale back doing events so I could be more present with Tiff and the boys. Over the last year we made the decision for me to only focus on doing events on Fridays and Saturdays, then out of nowhere this opportunity comes along that gives me the freedom to be home on Friday nights. What a blessing, it helped my family and I had fun every morning. I guess that’s why this stings so much. Without going too deep, the way this show was created and using technology really helped with our family. We don’t talk about this much but Tiff has MS and it can be challenging. We have to manage her energy to make sure she doesn’t get any new lesions on her spinal cord or brain, and to care for her when she does have problems. This seemed like it was a blessing, I actually work less hours, be with the family more, and have fun on the air. I will be fine, WE will be fine, but this one gutted me. I still have my 9 radio affiliates that carry my show, and I will still DJ events, but man, doing a morning show in my home town felt right.”
