Jack Russell, former lead singer of the rock band Great White, has died. Russell, 63, was battling dementia. Radio reacted on social media.
The news was announced on his Instagram.
Russell had been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia and Multiple System Atrophy, which causes loss of coordination and balance and changes in speech. He had recently announced his retirement from touring.
Great White is known for its songs “Once Bitten Twice Shy,” “The Angel Song,” and “Rock Me.”
The band’s history includes one of the deadliest nightclub fires in history in 2003 at a show in Rhode Island. A pyrotechnic malfunction caused a fire that killed 100 people, including the band’s guitar player, and injured many others.
