Kori McKay Is The Newest ‘Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Wisconsin’ Mentee

McKay, known to listeners as 'Kori with a K,' has been the Program Director for WHTQ in the Wausau/Stevens Point area since 2019.

The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association (WBA) and the “Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Wisconsin” (MIW) program have selected Kori McKay from NRG Media in Wausau/Stevens Point as their newest mentee.

McKay, known to listeners as ‘Kori with a K,’ has been the Program Director for WHTQ in the Wausau/Stevens Point area since 2019. She has also been the morning host for NRG Media since 2016. Before that, she hosted nights at WAZY in Lafayette, Indiana, and farm markets at KDSN in Denison, Iowa.

McKay said, “Growing up, I knew I wanted to make people smile. I remember sitting in my car in college listening to the radio, looked right at the radio and said ‘I want to do that,’ got out of my car and starting Googling ‘radio schools!’ I came across Brown College in Minnesota. And the rest is history.”

In 2022, the Minnesota Broadcasters Association launched the first partnership with Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio (MIW). Building on this, Wisconsin became the second state to join the MIW mentorship program. This state-specific initiative pairs aspiring female radio managers with experienced mentors. Through ongoing coaching and guidance, the program helps mentees develop the essential skills and techniques needed to become effective leaders in the radio industry.

MIW Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Wisconsin is a partnership between Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio, Inc. (MIW), a (501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of female leadership in radio broadcasting.
