Each night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention has seen more than 20 million viewers, and that didn’t change on Wednesday, despite a slight downturn.
According to Nielsen, 20.2 million viewers tuned into Wednesday’s coverage across ABC, CBS, NBC, Scripps News, CNN, FOX Business, Fox News, MSNBC, Newsmax, NewsNation, and PBS.
That 20.2 million figure included 15.2 million in the Persons 55+ demographic. 3.6 million watched from the Persons 35-54 demo, while 968,000 tuned in from the Persons 18-34 sector. The 18-34 performance was a 13.5% increase compared to Monday’s figure.
Despite speeches from Oprah Winfrey, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), and Bill Clinton, the total audience was down slightly compared to Tuesday’s program.
The second night of the convention featured an audience of 20.8 million, Nielsen data showed.
Once again, MSNBC led coverage of the event. The network featured an average of 5.4 million viewers in the 9 PM-Midnight window. That bested second-place CNN (3.4 million), third-place ABC (3.2 million), NBC (2.6 million), CBS (2.1 million), and Fox News (1.9 million).
