It is no secret that the overwhelming majority of news/talk radio is from the conservative perspective. 710 WOR host Michael Riedel still seeks out the other side of the political aisle so he can form the best arguments possible.
While discussing his approach to his show with the station’s midday host Mark Simone, Riedel shared that he’s a frequent listener of NPR so he can ensure he’s making the best counterargument to what other radio consumers might hear elsewhere.
“I listen to the shall we call it, the opposition, just so that I can hone my arguments when I’m trying to make a point about supporting Republicans, supporting conservative values, and conservative beliefs,” Riedel said. “But when I listen to these shows and the commie station, National Public Radio, all their callers are people like ‘I agree with you 100%, Donald Trump is an existential threat to American democracy.’ I live for the day when Trump is re-elected as president, to see what those commie shows will be a complete and total meltdown.”
In addition to talking about how he prepares for his morning show alongside co-host Len Berman, Michael Riedel joked that he now gets up at the time he previously went to bed when he was covering the Broadway scene in the Big Apple.
He’s previously stated that Simone was correct when he said hosting mornings would take “10 years off your life.” He added that “People aren’t meant to wake up at 4 AM.”
