Former SportsRadio 94WIP host Jon Marks announced today that he will be launching a new show with PHLY, the Philadelphia platform for ALLCITY Network. Marks made the announcement during The Anthony Gargano Show, which features another former Philadelphia radio host who had a well-chronicled exit from 97.5 The Fanatic.
“We have a major announcement, and I am so stoked,” Gargano said on PHLY after he had visited with yet another former Philadelphia radio host and Gargano’s former partner Glen Macnow. “This has been in the works for a while and of course, this is my old partner day. Joining us right now to announce his new show here on ALL PHLY Johnny Marks!”
“I’m driving in listening to Anthony and Glen again, I’m like what is going on here?”
Gargano and Marks talked about what they had missed when both had to spend time sitting out and didn’t get the chance to really interact with those that had listened to them for many years.
“What we love about our job is the community. It’s the fans, it’s the people you meet. There’s nothing like it,” Gargano said.”
Marks replied, “It’s something that I’ve missed. If you were to ask me, ‘since you left WIP at the end of 2023, what did you miss?’ It’s the community. It’s the fans. It’s not being a part of it like you once were and I’m really excited to get back to that.”
Marks explained the plan for the show, saying, ‘We’re gonna start off at 8 o’clock. So, it’s gonna be 8 to 9 leading into you. The hope is that sometime during the football season we start it and we do it at 7 o’clock. The show’s gonna be me, Tyler Zulli is gonna be riding shotgun with me every morning. I plan on bringing in rotating guest hosts and things like that to make it pretty cool.
“I like to keep things simple Anthony. We’re gonna talk sports. We’re gonna talk life. I’m a total mess, like my life is a total mess. My daughter threw up on me this morning when I was driving her to my in-laws…So I’ll bring a lot of that insanity to the air every morning.”
