ESPN has revealed that eight-time Super Bowl champion Bill Belichick will contribute across the network platforms this season through agreements with Omaha Productions and The Pat McAfee Show. Belichick will make his debut on a new, multiplatform original series on ESPN+ alongside former quarterback Peyton Manning, titled The Breakdown with Peyton and Belichick. Half-hour episodes will be released on Fridays preceding a broadcast of Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli that is focused on the teams playing in the matchup. There will be 11 editions of the ESPN+ show in the inaugural season, coinciding with the number of times the ManningCast will take the air.
The film room-style breakdown will include insights and discussion surrounding game planning for both teams, debuting on ESPN+ and airing on ESPN2 several times leading into Monday Night Football. The inaugural episode of the program will premiere on Friday, Sept. 6 on ESPN+, three days before the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers square off on the season premiere of Monday Night Football. Belichick will subsequently join Peyton and Eli Manning during the first half of the ManningCast for the game, something he will do regularly throughout the season. Once the first half concludes, Peyton and Eli will welcome additional guests from inside and outside of the sports world.
Belichick will join The Pat McAfee Show for a guest appearance every Monday, bringing his insights and expertise to the airwaves on ESPN, ESPN+ and YouTube. The separate agreement will enable an extended conversation on everything taking place in the NFL, including a reaction to the games that took place on the previous days and storylines. Belichick first appeared on the program during its fifth-annual Draft Spectacular, which attained record-setting viewership across social media platforms.
In addition to his ventures with ESPN, Belichick will be part of the panel for Inside the NFL on The CW Network with Ryan Clark, Chris Long and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson. Additionally, he is co-producing and hosting a show with Underdog Fantasy where he will analyze the game of football on YouTube. Belichick served as the head coach of the New England Patriots over a 24-season span where he won six Super Bowl championships.
