FOX Sports Radio has announced the addition of veteran sports reporter Kelvin Washington to their weekday lineup. Effective Monday, September 16, 2024, Washington will partner with Rob Parker to co-host The Odd Couple, which airs from 7-10 p.m. ET. Washington will replace Chris Broussard who announced he was leaving the show to concentrate on his television duties for FS1.
Broussard spoke recently on the show about his decision not to seek another contract with FOX Sports Radio. He said, “…I’m just leaving to focus on television. People know I’m the co-host, one of the co-hosts along with Nick Wright and Kevin Wildes of First Things First on FS1. And I’ve been doing that and The Odd Couple for the past two or three years. And it’s a long grind. It’s not undoable, of course, but it’s a long grind. Basically, been working from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday. And so it’s a complete lifestyle move.”
In addition to his new role with FSR, Washington will continue to anchor Your Morning on Spectrum News 1, and host pre- and post-game coverage of the Los Angeles Dodgers for SportsNet LA.
“I’m grateful to the folks at FOX Sports Radio for this tremendous opportunity,” said Washington in a release. “I also want to thank Chris Broussard for his blessing. Rob and I have worked together in radio and TV over the years, and I’m confident we’ll continue the impressive legacy that ‘The Odd Couple” has created and make a name for ourselves!”
“Chris has been an incredible partner, and he will be missed, but I look forward to continuing the tradition of ‘The Odd Couple’ with Kelvin,” said Parker. “I’ve known Kelvin for years and he’s a great fit. This show will continue to be fun and informative! Wake the kids and call the neighbors about this exciting new version of ‘The Odd Couple.’”
“We’ve known and worked with Kelvin for many years, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome him to the FOX Sports Radio family in a full-time capacity,” said Don Martin, Executive Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia Sports and Scott Shapiro, FOX Sports Radio Senior Vice President of Sports Programming, in a joint statement. “We’re confident Rob and Kelvin will be a powerful, and often hilarious, combination as we continue our mission to deliver the best sports entertainment programming nationwide.”
