Rachel Herzog Joins MSG Networks as Host and Analyst for New Jersey Devils Broadcasts

"The hockey community is truly special to me, and it’s a dream to host professional games and join the New Jersey Devils broadcast team."

MSG Networks has announced that sports reporter and hockey analyst Rachel Herzog is joining its television broadcasts of New Jersey Devils hockey. Herzog, who is a former NCAA Division I hockey player at St. Cloud State University, will be part of the MSG Networks broadcast this season alongside Bryce Salvador, Bill Spaulding and Ken Daneyko. Entering the role after working as a sports anchor and reporter at WDAY-TV in Fargo, N.D., she is the second new addition to the Devils broadcast in three seasons. Herzog had worked with the ABC-affiliated news station since 2022 where she produced feature stories for daily newscasts, anchored on weekends and interviewed players and coaches covering North Dakota high school state tournaments.

“MSG Networks welcomes Rachel to our distinguished New Jersey Devils broadcast team,” Kevin Marotta, senior vice president, content and marketing at MSG Networks, said in a statement. “As a former Division I player and two-time Minnesota state champion, we’re confident Rachel’s passion for hockey will serve Devils fans well in what’s set to be an exciting chapter in the franchise’s history.”

Herzog is a graduate of St. Cloud State University where she played defense for four years after two state high school championships in Minnesota. Additionally, she joined the institution’s athletics department where she created video content for the men’s and women’s hockey broadcasts, along with producing digital content for the social media channels. The job with the Devils will be Herzog’s first professional endeavor in association with the National Hockey League.

“The hockey community is truly special to me, and it’s a dream to host professional games and join the New Jersey Devils broadcast team,” Herzog said in a statement. “As a player and analyst, I’ve dedicated my life to this incredible sport. It’s an honor to join MSG Networks and the New Jersey Devils community, and I’m excited to be a part of such an incredible team.”

Erika Wachter previously worked as a host for Devils television broadcasts; however, she revealed this summer that her contract had not been renewed. Wachter worked on telecasts for the team over six seasons, but she is continuing her work with NHL Network in a hosting role. More than 3,000 Devils fans signed a petition protesting that Wachter should be reinstated on Devils broadcasts. Herzog will also be providing analysis for Devils broadcasts in addition to hosting, a new multifaceted role she will be assuming this season.
