Based on comments made at the end of a recent podcast conversation between former ESPN colleagues Todd McShay and Ryen Russillo as well as reporting from Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post it sounds likely McShay is headed soon to The Ringer.
On an episode of The Ryen Russillo Podcast that dropped recently, McShay and Russillo broke down a lot of various football topics in a wide-ranging discussion. At the very end of the visit, Russillo says to McShay, “This was great, man. It was good to get back at it. We’ll have some other announcements coming up.”
“When is the last time we worked together?” McShay asked. “I was still technically working for ESPN in 2019,” Russillo said.
McShay replied, “I’m just hopeful we can make a big announcement soon.”
“There you go, perfect,” Russillo said as they both laughed, clearly letting the audience know to expect just that coming up soon.
Glasspiegel reports that a deal between McShay and The Ringer is close to happening but not done yet.
McShay started with ESPN in 2006 but was laid off at the end of June, 2023. He has extensive knowledge of both college and pro football. Russillo started with The Ringer in 2019.
