Jomboy: Despite What Networks Think, There’s Absolutely a Market For Deep Dive MLB Content

Jimmy O’Brien has turned Jomboy Media into a strong digital sports presence. And he believes it’s because television networks have missed a big chunk of MLB content.

In a post on social media, the Jomboy founder shared metrics of a single video across several social media platforms. In a breakdown of the Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phillies he shared that the video has more than 2 million views, more than 100,000 likes, 22,500 shares, and more than 3,000 comments.

“It’s a 12-minute deep-dive into baseball analysis. The stuff most national networks don’t cover because there’s ‘no audience for it’,” he shared. “There is! Baseball is awesome and we can trick people into figuring that out as long as we promote the cool stuff.”

Jomboy Media has grown its social media accounts with those longer form breakdown videos. On YouTube, the company is just shy of 2 million subscribers. O’Brien himself has more than 500,000 followers on X, while the company has just under 400,000 followers.
