670 The Score Host Laurence Holmes Missing Show After Medical Issue

"I wasn't in a lot of pain, I didn't end up being in a lot of pain, and now I feel better."

670 The Score midday host Laurence Holmes has been missing his show alongside Dan Bernstein this week after suffering a medical issue after a flight from Las Vegas to Chicago.

On his podcast, Laurence Holmes revealed he underwent dental surgery, leading to his absence.

“I am on drugs,” Holmes joked. “I want to tell you a story before we talk about football … There is a portion of the story that’s a little gross. And by a little gross, I mean a lot gross.”

Holmes shared that he was eating M&M’s candies while on the flight, and a piece of the candy shell got lodged between his tooth and gum. He continued by noting that he had a dentist appointment already scheduled before the incident, so he was seen by his regular dentist who told him he needed to see a specialist after a hole was found in a crown and he was suffering from an infection is his gums.

“I was very anxious going in … I met with the doctor, and the doctor was great. He’s like, ‘I think we’ve got to fix the crown, but I think it would be better if we just did a root canal.’ And you hear those two words put together, it’s terrifying,” Holmes admitted. He then underwent a root canal, an antibiotic treatment on the infected area, and a replacement of his crown.

However, he later shared — in intricate detail — that during the procedure, the infection burst into the inside of his mouth, exacerbating the issues he was dealing with.

Despite that portion going poorly, he was glad to be done with any issues.

“I was expecting my face to hurt for the rest of the night … luckily, it didn’t,” said Holmes. “I wasn’t in a lot of pain, I didn’t end up being in a lot of pain, and now I feel better.”

  1. Are we sure there isn’t something more? Usually Leila cohosts when people are out and this is the 2nd week in a row she hasn’t been on at all.
