Former President Donald Trump made his first in-studio late-night appearance since 2016 Wednesday as a guest on the Fox News show hosted by Greg Gutfeld. 77 WABC host Sid Rosenberg doesn’t understand the hype the host gets.
Trump held a rally in the New York area Wednesday evening, which he left to appear on Gutfeld!, the 10 PM ET show helmed by Greg Gutfeld. Sid Rosenberg argued that he, not Gutfeld, received more praise from Trump voters at the campaign rally.
“I do this because I love it. And when I go to these events and people stop to say something nice, it means a lot to me,” said Rosenberg. “But last night was unbelievable. I’ll say it again: at the risk of sounding maybe silly or arrogant, outside of Trump, nobody, nobody in that building got the amount of attention I got last night. It was just incredible.”
That led Rosenberg to criticize Greg Gutfeld.
“Somebody has to explain to me what the love is with this guy. I’ve been all over Greg for a while now, he’s not a bad guy. He’s a nice guy. Me and Bernie (McGuirk) used to go on Fox News with him all the time. He’s a nice guy, but he’s not funny. He’s a little annoying (expletive). He’s got this show on late at night, and he gets ratings. You know why? Folks, he’s the only show,” said Rosenberg. “Do you think if I hosted that show, I wouldn’t get the same ratings, if not better? And Trump leaves the rally to sit around with him.
“On The Five, I gotta tell you, I want more Judge Jenine (Pirro). Give me more Judge Jeanine and less Gutfeld. This guy practically owns the network! I don’t get it! I’m watching all these Trump clips this morning on Gutfeld!, and I just keep going ‘What is that?’ Gutfeld? Tyrus? Kat Timpf? I don’t know. I must be missing something. See, I usually know when something is great.”
Rosenberg’s comments came before he welcomed Curtis Sliwa joined the program. Sliwa joked “If a producer from Gutfeld! called up and said ‘Hey, is Sid Rosenberg available tonight?’, Sid would be there primetime and all of a sudden tomorrow he’d say ‘My friend. Gutfeld, my very dear friend.'”
