1200 WOAI and The Joe Pags Show news anchor Cari Laque has revealed she has been diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer.
Laque revealed the diagnosis earlier this week on social media.
“Most of you know a part of the journey I am now on,” Laque wrote on Facebook, linking to a GoFundMe account created by her son. “Here’s my story in my son’s words. He wanted so much to help and created this account for me. Even if it’s just leaving a kind word, prayer, or an account of how you beat this monster, I would love to hear it.”
The GoFundMe claims that Laque works at 1200 WOAI when she can, but “with upcoming treatments and surgeries that will be hard to do some days.”
The account adds that Cari Laque “will be receiving six months of chemotherapy and then after that another set of scans will be done to see if the tumors have shrunk to the point of having surgery,” after the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and liver.
The charitable account for the radio anchor has reached more than $18,000 since being launched, nearing its goal of $25,000.
Laque is not alone on The Joe Pags Show in being diagnosed with cancer. Joe Pagliarulo was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2011.
