Audacy’s Country KSON/San Diego morning show, “John & Tammy,” sprang into action when an 11-year-old’s lemonade stand was robbed earlier this month.
Hosts John Flint and Tammy Lee heard that Liam Rade was trying to earn money to buy a dirt bike when his lemonade stand was robbed by someone in a pickup that took his money and took off.
To help Rade recoup his losses, Flint and Lee launched “The World’s Largest Lemonade Stand” and called on KSON listeners for support.
Tammy Lee told Barrett Media, “When we heard about Liam’s story, we knew we had to do something. The community of Ramona was ready to step up. We wanted to take it further and reached out to Scotty McCreery. He couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this happy ending for Liam and his family. With Liam then donating the money raised to a local animal shelter, it was a win-win-win for everyone!”
Triple Tigers artist and American Idol season ten winner McCreery stepped in and purchased the bike for Rade.
McCreery told John & Tammy “I like to think that there’s a lot of great people out there, but every now and then you hear something that does stink. I wanted to call in and offer a little bit of something that I could. If y’all don’t mind, I’d like to contribute a little something.”
“Every kid needs to have fun out there, and I loved dirt bikes when I was a kid, so I’d love to contribute a dirt bike if that’s OK with y’all.”
