Oakland A’s Radio Voice Vince Cotroneo Shares Behind-The-Scenes View of Team’s Final Game in Oakland

The 2024 season is his 32nd year in the big leagues after previously calling games for the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers before joining the Oakland A's.

Thursday marked the final time the Oakland A’s will play in the California city as the team begins its relocation process. Radio voice Vince Cotroneo, who is in his final season with the franchise, shared many memories and unique access on his social media accounts before and during the game.

In July, Cotroneo shared that it would be his final season with the MLB club before it transitions away from Oakland. He originally joined the franchise in 200, working alongside Ken Korach, who has been with the team since 1996 and will move with the A’s to their temporary home in Sacramento. The franchise elected not to renew Cotroneo’s contract for next season. Cotroneo shared many content plans and behind-the-scenes views during his final home broadcast with the MLB club on Thursday. For the final broadcast from the Oakland Coliseum, the pregame interview was with Baseball Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson, who Cotroneo called “the greatest player to ever wear an Oakland uniform.”

He also posted a photo with television analyst Dallas Braden, who famously threw a perfect game on Mother’s Day in 2009.

Cotroneo also shared a photo from the club’s radio booth of a capacity crowd.

Vince Cotroneo added that the bases on the diamond would be exchanged each inning due to the high demand of members both inside the Oakland A’s organization and outside wanting a commemoration of the final game.

“The bases today will be changed out every inning, so many requests, internal and external, for a piece of history,” he shared.
