According to reports, Bob Papa will be working his final event for Golf Channel this week as his contract was not renewed by NBC. Papa has been with the channel since 2012 and had been the play-by-play host for the PGA TOUR Champions live tournament coverage and the collegiate golf live tournament coverage, including the NCAA Golf Championships.
Papa’s final assignment is this week’s Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. GOLF Channel will have coverage of the 54-hole event today through Wednesday Oct. 2. The final day coverage is scheduled to go from 4:30 p.m. ET to 7:30 p.m. ET.
Papa is the radio play-by-play voice of the New York Giants and has worked for NBC on Olympic coverage. He also works with Westwood One calling the Masters, the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship. Additionally, he hosts Airing it Out weekdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
Papa has also been well known for his work calling big boxing matches both for ESPN and HBO’s Boxing After Dark.
