Salem Radio Network Mike Gallagher has revealed he’s lucky to be alive after encountering a situation coming to his office as Hurricane Helene hit Florida last week.
Gallagher, who lives in Tampa, shared that as he attempted to clear debris from his car to make the trek to the studio Friday morning, he nearly touched a downed electrical line.
“I had a wild experience trying to get out of my parking place today, and a guy came out of the clear blue at six o’clock in the morning with a flashlight. I had never seen him before,” The Mike Gallagher Show host said. “He said, ‘Don’t go that way, buddy. You’re going to get electrocuted.’ And sure enough, there was a tree that took a power line down. And had I gone 10 feet further in that vehicle as I was walking and driving, because I was clearing out debris as I was trying to get out, I would have undoubtedly come in contact with that downed power line.”
Mike Gallagher added that he’s thankful he was able to share the moment on the air during his Salem Radio Network program.
“Look, I stick to my guns. I do my job, but I am profoundly grateful that I get to work for a company that allows me to share my faith openly with you, and I am convinced that God was watching over me this morning,” continued Gallagher. “Sadly, tragically, somebody here in the Tampa Bay area did not have that kind of protection, and she died, apparently that way, by touching an electrical wire during the storm last night.”
Gallagher later added that, outside of nearly being electrocuted, he and his home were unharmed by the Category 4 storm.
