Congratulations to ESPN basketball analyst Debbie Antonelli who was named the recipient of the 2024 Curt Gowdy Electronic Media Award. Antonelli is one of the most influential voices in college basketball who has been a player, marketing executive and broadcaster for four decades.
The Basketball Hall of Fame’s media award is named in honor of Curt Gowdy, who served as president of the Hall of Fame for seven consecutive one-year terms. It was established by the Board of Trustees to single out members of the electronic and print media for outstanding contributions to basketball.
Antonelli has spent more than 35 years covering the game of basketball on the professional and collegiate levels. She has called women’s and men’s college basketball for ESPN, ACC Network, Longhorn Network and SEC Network, as well CBS Sports, Fox Sports, RAYCOM Sports, Big Ten Network, NBA TV and Westwood One.
She has also served as a WNBA analyst since the league’s inception, including a combined 23 years with the Indiana Fever and Charlotte Sting. Antonelli annually calls about 80 games per season.
In a post on X, ESPN said, “Congratulations to one of the most influential and groundbreaking voices in college basketball. Thank you for your lifelong passion and dedication to the sport, your philanthropy, and your tireless work to chronicle the game.”
Recent recipients of the electronic media award include Holly Rowe, Walt Frazier, Mike Breen and Craig Sager.
