The final numbers are in and the Thursday Night Football matchup on Amazon’s Prime Video between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks averaged 13.9 million viewers. Through five games, the 2024 TNF on Prime season is averaging 15.04 million viewers.
The 49ers-Seahawks NFC West matchup saw the Seahawks lose their third game in a row after starting the season with three straight wins. San Francisco had a 16-3 lead at halftime and won by the score of 36-24.
The matchup had competition from the MLB playoffs with the ALDS games between the Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers as well as the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals overlapping with some of the football game. There were also many parts of the southeast without power due to the aftermath of Hurricane Milton.
Prime Video reports this is the most-watched season to date for TNF and each week this season it has won the night among total viewers across all broadcast and cable programming. The game was more than 130% better than the No. 2 program of the night.
Prime Video also reports the media age for TNF is 47.5, which is more than seven years younger than audiences watching the NFL on linear networks (54.8), and 15 years younger than the broadcast primetime average (62.5).
The Week 7 Thursday Night Football matchup features the 3-3 Denver Broncos at the 2-4 New Orleans Saints. The following week will see the Vikings at the Rams. The month will finish with the Texans at the Jets on Halloween.
