San Antonio native launched his broadcasting career at KDNT in Denton, Texas. He later worked at several local stations, including Country 107.5 KBUC, AC 106.7 KESI, R&B Oldies 1480 KAPE, and Oldies 860 KONO. In 1992, he joined Country “Y100” KCYY, where he adopted the on-air name Johnny Montego, serving in both nighttime and midday slots for eight years.

Casanova attributes his successful 24-year tenure at CMG to “being in exactly the right place at the right time and knowing when to shut the hell up.” After achieving No. 1 ratings and receiving two Marconi Awards, he has announced that he will conclude his career on his own terms at the end of the year.

In acknowledgment, Casanova expressed gratitude to Rob Roberts, Roger Allen, RJ Curtis, Scott Huskey, Lee Woods, Gene Kelly, and all the remarkable GMs, programmers, jocks, and support staff he has worked with for 42 years of unforgettable memories and success.
