KYW Newsradio in Philadelphia is concluding a series on Breast Cancer Awareness Month that shared multiple stories of women with the disease and medical insights from top professionals.
Episodes of the series, called Stories From the Journey, featured discussions on personal accounts from those affected by breast cancer and also saw medical experts share the complexities of treatments and recovery for those dealing with a diagnosis.
The series was hosted by KYW reporter Racquel Williams. The Bridging Philly host is a two-time breast cancer survivor herself, and shared that the goal of the series was to boost awareness.
“This month of programming is not just about sharing stories but also about urging both women and men to prioritize screening and prevention,” she said.
The three-part series coincides with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in October, in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, the mortality rate for the cancer dropped in 2024. However, more than 300,000 people, on average, will be diagnoses with the disease each year.
