In a move designed to beat others to the punch, Mount Wilson Broadcasters has flipped its Los Angeles frequencies k-Mozart 105.1 and 98.3 to all Christmas music.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Daily News, owner Saul Levine said, “We want to get a jump on the competition.” Adding that, the format will run through December 31.

The holiday season in Los Angeles typically kicks off around the second week of November, when KOST (103.5 FM) begins its Christmas music lineup.

They are not the first station in the nation to adopt an all-Christmas format. That distinction belongs to New Albany Broadcasting Company’s 1570 WLRS in New Albany, Indiana, and 92.5 in Louisville, Kentucky, which switched on October 11. (BMM 10/11)

In recent years, the company has programmed an all-Christmas format on “Go Country 105” KKGO-FM, starting after Thanksgiving and continuing until Christmas.
