When trick-or-treating ends, Santa Claus is coming to Chicago. iHeartMedia’s AC 93.9 LITE FM has announced the return of its all-Christmas music format, beginning at 3 pm Friday.
93.9 Program Director Mick Lee said in a statement, “93.9 LITE FM listeners have spoken year after year. Once Halloween ends, they are ready for Christmas music on 93.9 LITE FM; we’re thrilled to celebrate our 24th year as Chicago’s Christmas station, spreading cheer, unity, and warmth all season long!”
The annual rush to Christmas music with the goal of being first in the market has led to stations moving to the format earlier and earlier.
As previously reported k-Mozart in Los Angeles (BMM 10/28) and WLRS Louisville (BMM 10/11) have already flipped to all Christmas.
Other stations across the country will likely be flipping in the coming days.
