Cumulus Media has officially transitioned its former Hip Hop station, Hot 106 WWKX in Providence, RI, to a Classic Rock format under the new branding of “106.3 The Wolf.” The change took effect at midnight following two days of stunting. (BMM 10/31)
The station’s website says, “Real Classic Rock has returned to Southern New England.”
The recent update includes a matching playlist with 102.3 The Wolf WMOS, based in Stonington, CT. This station serves the southeastern region of Connecticut and southwestern Rhode Island and operates from studios at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT.
With the introduction of a new logo reflecting WWKX’s branding, WMOS has updated its on-air schedule. Mike English will continue to host the morning slot with Westwood One’s Steve Gorman Rocks nights.
The local air staff has seen changes. Jody Morris, the News Director and midday host from the New London, CT cluster, along with Program Director and afternoon host Patrick Cole, are no longer included in the lineup.
