October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and for the fifth year, Hubbard Broadcasting Chicago’s 101.9 The Mix and The Men of the Mix, led by Chris Petlak, has joined forces with the Men Wear Pink campaign. This initiative aims to raise funds for the American Cancer Society, a leading organization in the battle against breast cancer in the 21st century.
The Men of the Mix, with support from corporate partner Chick-fil-A Chicagoland, hosted two live shows at Chick-fil-A locations in Niles and Chicago. As a thank-you for donations, the first 100 listeners enjoyed a complimentary lunch.
For the second consecutive year, the Men of the Mix organized a sold-out comedy night at Zanies Rosemont. The event showcased a stand-up comedy lineup, segments from The Morning Mix and Afternoon Mix, and a performance by MIX artist Andy Grammer.
The Men of The Mix successfully raised $440,543 for the American Cancer Society of Greater Chicagoland, securing third place in nationwide fundraising efforts.
This contribution plays a vital role in the fight against breast cancer, as every dollar supports innovative research, provides essential education to reduce risk, and ensures comprehensive care for patients.
Chris Petlak, host of The Morning Mix, said, “This year, The Mix audience helped us make a major impact in the fight against breast cancer for researchers, doctors, families, and most importantly – those fighting this horrible disease. I’m so grateful to Whip and McCabe – The Men of The Mix – and our partners in Chick-fil-A Chicagoland and Zanies Rosemont for their support. As a co-chair of the Men Wear Pink campaign here in Chicago, I am beyond proud of what we all accomplished together.”
