The new face of women’s basketball, Caitlin Clark, who won this year’s WNBA Rookie of the Year award will share a stage at Ball State University with David Letterman on Monday, Dec. 2. The conversation is part of the David Letterman Distinguished Professional Lecture and Workshop Series, established by the university in 2008.
Clark finished college basketball as the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer, then became the No. 1 overall draft pick of the Indiana Fever of the WNBA. The league set numerous attendance and viewership records during Clark’s first season. She will be interviewed by one of the legends of late-night television. Letterman was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and attended Ball State which is about an hour away in Muncie.
“David Letterman is our University’s most famous graduate. He is a native Hoosier and a national icon, and Caitlin Clark has quickly become a beloved Hoosier and national star,” said Ball State University President Geoffrey S. Mearns in a statement. “I anticipate their conversation will be very special. On behalf of Ball State, we are honored to host them.”
Letterman attended an Indiana Fever game in August and had shared pictures of the two of them meeting after the game.
Previous guests of Letterman’s series include media mogul Oprah Winfrey, TV host Rachel Maddow, and entrepreneur Biz Stone.
