"I love the show, I am not arrogant enough to think that everybody should like what I do, I just wanted you to know it doesn't bother me, I'm ok with it."

As WFAN host Chris McMonigle and producer Paul Rosenberg discussed the NBA and the courts they are using for the NBA Cup, McMonigle brought up that it reminds him of the Seinfeld episode with the bright-red Kenny Rogers Roasters sign. After Rosenberg commented that the episode was “one of the few good Seinfeld episodes,” the two talked about their all-time favorite sitcoms.

Well, as it turns out, Jerry Seinfeld was listening, and he called in to weigh in on the subject at hand and talk a little sports. McMonigle was unsure if the person on the line was actually Seinfeld as he welcomed him on the air. It was only moments later you realize it is actually Jerry Seinfeld calling into the show.

“I love the show, I am not arrogant enough to think that everybody should like what I do, I just wanted you to know it doesn’t bother me, I’m ok with it,” Seinfeld said referencing what Rosenberg had said. “One out of two is fine for me and that’s all I wanted to say.”

Seinfeld would later add, “Look, we made 180 Seinfeld episodes. So, we made three good ones. We’re like the Giants. We’re 3–177.”

Seinfeld is known as a die-hard Mets fan, so McMonigle asked him about his thoughts on the season.

“You could make a pretty good argument that this season was the most magical Mets season, not counting the two World Series wins,” Seinfeld said. “It was a chemistry, and it was an energy, and it was an emotional thing of guys that weren’t supposed to be that good.”

Seinfeld would go on to ask McMonigle about the pain Yankees fans felt in the 5th inning of Game 5 the World Series when things began to unravel for the Yankees.

“Tell me about that. I wanna know, what did that feel like as a fan? …Your pain is my pleasure.”

In addition, as McMonigle and Seinfeld wrapped up the conversation, Seinfeld said, “Thank you for taking my call. Thank you for sticking up for me. I just want you to know my feelings were not hurt.”
