According to a report from the New York Posts’ Ryan Glasspiegel, former NBA star and ESPN analyst Jalen Rose is set to join NBC Sports for coverage of Big Ten Basketball. Rose will be a studio analyst on Big Ten College Countdown airing on Peacock where he will work with Jordan Cornette and former Georgia Tech and Memphis head coach Josh Pastner.
A former McDonald’s All-American in high school, Rose starred at Michigan as part of the famed ‘Fab Five’ which started in 1991. The recruiting class included Rose along with Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King and Ray Jackson. The team made it to the NCAA Tournament championship game in both 1992 and 1993.
Rose would go on to be a first-round draft pick of the Denver Nuggets in 1994. In addition to the Nuggets, Rose spent time with the Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors, New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns until his NBA career came to an end in 2007.
Rose was laid off by ESPN last year along with other NBA analysts such as Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson.
