NBC News correspondent Dasha Burns is departing the network to join POLITICO as its new White House bureau chief.
Burns had been with NBC News since 2016. She originally joined as an associate producer and then a producer for Weekend Today before being elevated to the role of field reporter in 2019.
Her high-profile interview with Pennsylvania senatorial candidate John Fetterman went viral in October 2022 after she revealed the Democratic nominee was forced to utilize a second screen that transcribed her questions so he could adequately answer her questions.
Additionally, she was on the ground in Butler, Pennsylvania during the July assassination attempt against Donald Trump.
“I’m leaving my longtime home of NBC News,” Burns wrote on social media announcing the move. “A place that has given me so much, including some of my best friends and lifelong inspiration from a talented team of reporters. You’ve taught me everything I know.”
She added that she is “thrilled to join a rockstar team” at POLITICO, a place she has “long admired at such a critical moment in our country’s story.”
While announcing her addition, POLITICO Global Editor-in-Chief John Harris had high praise for her work.
“Dasha has rapidly established herself as one of the most compelling voices in political journalism, combining sharp insights, relentless curiosity, and a fearless approach to tackling the stories that shape our world.”
Dasha Burns will begin her tenure at POLITICO in January.
