Longtime Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto announced his departure from the network Thursday after 28 years with the cable news outlet.
Sources close to the situation claim the longtime anchor was offered a new contract to remain with Fox News, but decided against renewing. In addition to his work at Fox News, Neil Cavuto also anchored a show — Cavuto: Coast to Coast — on Fox Business.
Fox News shared its appreciation for his work during his long tenure with the company in a statement to Barrett Media on Thursday.
“Neil Cavuto’s illustrious career has been a master class in journalism and we’re extremely proud of his incredible 28-year run with FOX News Media. His programs have defined business news and set the standard for the entire industry. We wish him a heartfelt farewell and all the best on his next chapter.”
After the announcement, many current and former Fox News colleagues took to social media to share well wishes, admiration, and appreciation for the work Cavuto did with the network and what he meant to them both personally and professionally.
