After months of speculation, Chuck Todd made it official: After 18 years, he’s leaving his longtime home at NBC News.
In an email to co-workers, Todd revealed that today is his final day with NBC News after nearly two decades inside the venerable news organization.
“There’s never a perfect time to leave a place that’s been a professional home for so long, but I’m pretty excited about a few new projects that are on the cusp of going from ‘pie in the sky’ to ‘near reality,’” Todd wrote. “So I’m grateful for the chance to get a jump start on my next chapter during this important moment.”
“We’re grateful for Chuck’s many contributions to our political coverage during his nearly two-decade career at NBC News and for his deep commitment to Meet the Press and its enduring legacy,” an NBC News spokesperson said. “We wish him all the best in his next endeavors.”
Todd’s podcast — The ChuckToddcast — will remain in his possession as he departs the network.
Chuck Todd joined NBC News in 2007. He served as the outlet’s political director, chief White House correspondent, and served as moderator of Meet the Press from 2014 through September 2023 before handing the reins to current host Kristen Welker.
Late last year, a report surfaced that Todd was preparing to exit his longtime home. The report said Todd was meeting with other outlets about a potential partnership, saying he would leave NBC News when his contract expired.
