Sports talk hosts Andy Sweeney and Jimmy Cook have been let go by 93.5/107.5 The Fan in Indianapolis. Sweeney, who joined the staff at The Fan in August 2023 was part of the morning show with Kevin Bowen and made the announcement via his X account.
“UPDATE FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE SHOWBIZ LADDER,” his post started. “Monday was my last day at The Fan here in Indy. Fewer things exemplify sports radio than receiving positive recognition (Barrett Media top 20 list) and it being over 15 mins later. Let me say this… I loved covering your teams. The Pacers are a class act organization and covering an NFL team [like the Colts] was something I wanted. Also, it was great working with super dudes like Kevin Bowen and Marc Dykton. I wish them the best, but they won’t need it.
“Eventually I’ll get some jokes off about the whole thing, but for now, I have a 16-month-old to take to the zoo. What’s next? Who knows. We enjoy Indy quite a bit, maybe back to Louisville, not sure. It’s only day 1 and I’ve never filed for this thing called unemployment.”
Prior to joining The Fan in August 2023, Sweeney spent time in Louisville with ESPN 680 and 93.9 The Ville. No word yet on how the radio station will handle morning drive but lead host Kevin Bowen will continue in his current role.
Cook was a co-host of Query & Company and spent the last six years with the station. Cook posted, “Today was my last day at The Fan. I want to thank Todd Meyer & Jeff Rickard for letting me talk sports in my city the last 6 years. I also send love to @EddieGarrison_ & @JakeQuery for never making this feel like work. I look forward to this next adventure, whatever it may be.”
