The Cincinnati Reds have announced that 97.1 FM The Fan in Columbus, Ohio, is the newest affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds Radio Network. Starting this season, Columbus-area fans can can catch live game broadcasts, pre-and post-game analysis, and exclusive Reds content.
Should the station have any conflicts with other on air programming, the Reds games will move to ESPN Columbus (1460 AM, 97.1 FM HD2).
“Columbus is a vibrant sports market, and we’re proud to bring Reds baseball to such a passionate fan base through a trusted and
respected station like The Fan,” said Phil Castellini, President & CEO of the Cincinnati Reds in a release.
97.1 The Fan is the flagship home of Ohio State Athletics and the Columbus Blue Jackets.
“We’re excited to bring Reds on the Radio to The Fan and ESPN Columbus,” said Matt Fishman Program Director/Operations Manager of The Fan. “Now, Central Ohio fans can catch every pitch, every game of Reds baseball all season long!”
The first broadcast will feature the Reds’ Cactus League spring training opener against the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday, February 22. The Reds’ regular-season opener is set for Thursday, March 27, against the San Francisco Giants.
The Reds Radio Network spans 64 markets across seven states and features broadcasters Tommy Thrall
and Jeff Brantley.
