Mike Bacsik to Leave 105.3 The Fan at the End of February

"So making the split – we'll be headed to spring training at the end of the month, so my last shows on the station will be at Surprise covering the Texas Rangers, which is very cool to kind it that way."

Mike Bacsik has announced that he will be leaving K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan as he transitions to become the new analyst for Texas Rangers television broadcasts. Bacsik, who formerly pitched for the organization during his MLB career, had previously served as a member of pregame and postgame coverage on the team telecasts since 2014. Throughout his 14 years with the station, which he joined in 2011, he worked in various different roles on the airwaves and has been paired with Kevin Hageland and Cory Mageors in middays since February 2020.

“Obviously, I’m pumped about my job as the Rangers analyst on television, and I’ll be doing approximately 100 games there for the Texas Rangers, and just looking at it from the station, looking at it from the perspective of how much I’d be traveling with the team, me looking at it on the duty that I have to do Ranger games, that it just wasn’t going to be really possible to do both,” Bacsik said on Monday’s show. “So making the split – we’ll be headed to spring training at the end of the month, so my last shows on the station will be at Surprise covering the Texas Rangers, which is very cool to kind it that way.”

Bacsik will have 12 more appearances on the station over the next three weeks as he concludes his tenure with the sports talk radio outlet. Upon the start of the baseball calendar, he will be working with television play-by-play announcer Dave Raymond, who is entering his ninth season calling games for the team. Bacsik joins the regular rotation as the team unveiled changes to its broadcasts, including new additions such as Laura Stickells and Elvis Andrus.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled for Mike and our listeners will still get to hear him on 105.3 The Fan for our Rangers Pregame show prior to each game,” Gavin Spittle, vice president of news/talk/sports for Audacy Dallas/Fort Worth, said in a statement provided to Barrett Media. “I think it says a lot about Mike, Jared Sandler, The Fan and our partnership with the Rangers that both will get increased roles.”

The Texas Rangers recently launched a new team-owned sports network as the franchise moves on from broadcasting on a Diamond Sports Group-owned RSN. This platform will carry games on broadcast, linear and streaming television formats as the team opted to receive its rights back and not partner with the league. Fans will have multiple options through which they can watch game broadcasts as the team restructured its business to form a larger sports media and entertainment company.
