Music radio is mourning the loss of Tulsa radio legend Brent Douglas. Douglas created the popular character Roy D. Mercer, who was known for his prank phone calls during the “Phil & Brent Morning Zoo.”

The duo dominated the Tulsa market on Rocker KMOD until the show’s end in 2012 when they failed to reach contract terms with Clear Channel, the station’s then-owner.

The news of his passing was announced on the KMOD website.

Former co-host Mary Moore told Fox 23 Tulsa that being on the show was some of the best years of her life.

“Brent went through a time when he was really into yoga…and he would sit, and he would have his knees up, cross-legged, on top of the counter, and that’s how he would be sitting just to show us that he was really working on his flexibility…so when I look over in my mind, that’s what I see is that guy in this yoga pose, you know, living his best life.”

Phil Stone, the other half of the show, passed away in 2012.
