The NFL Combine delivered drama before the more than 300 prospects even took the field in Indianapolis, IN. According to a sourced report by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and FOX Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz were involved in an incident at a Starbucks inside the JW Marriott hotel in Indianapolis. The report states that Schultz “verbally accosted” Rapoport while the NFL Network insider was in line, engaged in a conversation with another individual.
Neither Rapoport nor Schultz has addressed the report from Pro Football Talk.
According to PFT, Schultz approached Rapoport in line and said, “We need to talk.” When Rapoport declined, Schultz allegedly responded, “If you have anything to say to me, say it to my f*****g face.” The incident was reported to NFL Security, which has since spoken with several witnesses.
As with any confrontation involving media members, the situation quickly sparked reactions on social media. Many in the sports media world weighed in, some even poking fun at the report’s details.
At this time, there is no word on whether any further action or disciplinary measures will be taken against Rapoport or Schultz. Barrett Media will provide updates as more information becomes available.
