Jared Stacy has been promoted by Amazon Prime to vice president of worldwide live sports production, a source told Barrett Media. Stacy previously served as the director of live sports production throughout his five-year tenure with the company, overseeing a variety of marquee broadcast properties including Thursday Night Football, UEFA Champions League and Roland-Garros. According to a report from John Ourand of Puck, Stacy is also going to be involved with the productions surrounding live broadcasts of NBA games and NASCAR races set to begin this year.
Stacy joined Amazon in October 2019 after working for nearly three years with Charter Communications as the vice president of Spectrum Sports production and strategy. During his time working on regional broadcasts, which also included stints with FOX Sports West and KCAL 9, he was part of the presentation of the Los Angeles Lakers, including when Kobe Bryant played his last game for the team. Moreover, he also had involvement in Vin Scully’s final season broadcasting the Los Angeles Dodgers, concluding a 67-year run as the voice of the team.
Amazon acquired media rights to the National Football League in 2021 and built the broadcasting property under the direction of Stacy, along with Amazon executives Jay Marine and Marie Donoghue. The network hired play-by-play announcer Al Michaels, analyst Kirk Herbstreit and sideline reporter Kaylee Hartung for the broadcasts, which have achieved year-over-year viewership gains over the first three seasons. The company has aired exclusive NFL games on Black Friday over the last two seasons, and it recently presented its first-ever exclusive NFL Wild Card round game this past January.
Ahead of its new broadcast deal with the NBA, which is an 11-year pact reportedly worth $1.93 billion per year, the company has introduced several on-air talent personalities to its team. Taylor Rooks, Blake Griffin and Dirk Nowitzki have been revealed as the studio team that will anchor coverage surrounding the game broadcasts, which are reportedly expected to include Ian Eagle as the play-by-play announcer with Cassidy Hubbarth reporting.
