KFBK host Tom Sullivan has announced plans to retire later this year after spending more than 45 years in the news/talk radio and business television sectors.
Sullivan will retire from The Tom Sullivan Show, which airs from 12-3 PM PT on the iHeartMedia Sacramento news/talk station, on Friday, May 30th. Additionally, Sullivan will step away from his nationally syndicated Talk Media Network program.
Tom Sullivan began his career at the station in 1980. He also worked in local television in the market before moving to Fox Business Network in 2007. Fox News Radio syndicated his radio show until he retired from the network in 2017.
“KFBK News Radio congratulates Tom Sullivan who has announced his semi-retirement and the conclusion of his daily radio show,” the station shared on social media. “His final show will air on Friday, May 30, 2025 … While Tom is stepping back from hosting his daily show, listeners can stay connected on his new podcast.”
Sullivan announced the move on his program on Wednesday. He noted that he’ll start a new podcast amidst his retirement.
“Today, I am announcing that in 60 days, basically the end of May, I am going to hang up the microphone,” he shared. “This show will come to a screeching halt on May 30, and after that, I’m going to dabble in the world of podcasting. I can’t just sit at home and rock in the rocking chair. I’m fine. I feel good. I feel healthy. The ratings are extremely good. It’s like going out on top. It’s time. I’ve been doing radio for 45 years.”
Tom Sullivan added that he is extremely grateful to his audience for following and supporting him during his long media career.

I’m anxiously awaiting Tom’s replacement. It’s past time for a conservative to be on a conservative radio channel/show. I quit listening during Trump’s first presidency. Tom was such a Trump hater. The straw that broke me was the fit Tom threw over Trump’s suggestion of a military parade on the 4th of July. He was livid and could not conceive of a world where a military success (the Revolutionary War) could be a celebration of our military strength and success. For crying out loud, we didn’t win a Bake-off on the 4th of July, we won a war. I have tried to listen to him recently, since he’s sandwiched between two other clearly conservative programs, but inevitably I turn the show off and drive in silence. Today was my end again…I will not listen to Tom again. He wants to critique how the sausage is made, at millisecond intervals. Let Trump do what he does. It’s messy because his predecessors’ greed has almost destroyed our country. Let him make the damn sausage. And when he had ZERO pushback on a clearly liberal caller who said his beef was that Trump is just not a nice or decent human being, the Tom Sullivan show was turned off for the last time in our home/vehicles. Remember Trump’s Address to Congress? The left can no longer claim to be the party of ‘nice’ and ‘decent,’ and Tom’s inability to speak truth is why his show will disappear without being missed. I think Tom is probably a nice guy and I wish him health and happiness, but his TDS and pandering to callers like that are why we are excited for a new show and why we will not be following his podcast.
