Peacock is going to serve as the exclusive national home of an NFL Week 17 game in prime time, the company announced on Monday morning ahead of its annual Upfront presentation from New York City. The Peacock Holiday Exclusive game will be chosen from a pool of key Week 17 matchups taking place on Saturday. The game will also broadcast on NBC stations in competing team cities and available on mobile devices utilizing NFL+.
Comcast Corporation is operating within its third season of a 10-year media rights deal reportedly worth $2 billion, and it will be the fourth time that Peacock will be presenting an exclusive NFL game. Moreover, it will be the second time that the Eagles will be playing a game that is exclusive to the over-the-top streaming service.
The last time Peacock aired an exclusive NFL game, it took place from São Paulo, Brazil and featured the Eagles facing the Green Bay Packers. The exclusive matchup attained a total audience delivery of 14.2 million viewers, which was the most-watched non-Olympic Friday show taking place on the platform since April 2024 when Iowa defeated Connecticut within the Final Four of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament. NBC Sports is presenting its first Holiday Exclusive game on Peacock since the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans secured a total audience delivery of 15.5 million viewers on December 21.
“We are excited to present the Week 17 Peacock Holiday Exclusive in a Saturday night showcase, as Peacock continues to deliver the best in sports streaming,” Rick Cordella, president of NBC Sports, said in a statement. “With Sunday Night Football on NBC and Peacock one night later, we look forward to a pair of primetime games that impact the playoff races.”
In addition to the Peacock Holiday Exclusive Game, NBC Sports will be presenting the NFL Kickoff Game live from Lincoln Financial Field during Week 1 as the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles face the Dallas Cowboys. Mike Tirico, lead play-by-play announcer for Sunday Night Football, made the announcement on Today earlier on Monday as the company prepares to present Super Bowl LX to conclude the season.
“We are incredibly excited about what we have accomplished with NBC to establish Peacock as a key home for the NFL for our fans,” Hans Schroeder, NFL executive vice president of media distribution, said in a statement, “and we are thrilled to build on that partnership in 2025 with a primetime Week 17 matchup in the run to the playoffs.”
