The Golden State Valkyries announced Tuesday a multi-year partnership with Audacy station 95.7 The Game to serve as the official radio home for the team’s inaugural WNBA season. As part of the agreement, all Valkyries games will stream live on the Audacy App, while all home games will also air on 95.7 The Game including a 30-minute postgame show featuring comprehensive analysis and reaction.
Additionally, the Valkyries named veteran broadcaster Kevin Danna as the team’s radio play-by-play announcer and Sophia Jones as the color analyst.
“The Valkyries are making history, and we’re all in,” said Kieran Geffert, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Audacy San Francisco. “As the audio home for Golden State basketball, we’re fired up to bring every play and every moment of this historic journey to Bay Area sports fans.”
Danna, a seasoned voice in Bay Area sports, brings over a decade of experience to the Valkyries booth. He recently completed his 13th season as the voice of the Santa Cruz Warriors and has provided play-by-play for the Golden State Warriors’ Summer League since 2015. His résumé also includes broadcasts for Stanford women’s basketball, Cal football, and more than 10 seasons with Pac-12 Networks.
Jones adds a fresh perspective to the broadcast team, joining after serving as the voice of University of San Francisco women’s basketball last season. She has also worked as a sideline reporter for USF men’s basketball and covered the 2024 NBA California Classic on ESPN2 and NBATV. A San Jose State alumna, Jones played for the Spartans and began her broadcasting career while rehabbing from injury, calling games for the Mountain West Network.
“Radio brings a dynamic energy to basketball – Audacy’s 95.7 The Game and our talent will create memorable calls that fans remember for years to come,” Valkyries President Jess Smith said. “This partnership enhances the reach of Valkyries basketball, making each moment accessible as we continue to tell the story of our inaugural season.”
Together, Danna and Jones aim to bring engaging and insightful coverage to Valkyries fans throughout the Bay Area and beyond. The Valkyries season begins this Friday against the Los Angeles Sparks.
