Sean Roberts has been named the new program director of 106.3 KXnO in Des Moines, Iowa. Roberts has been with iHeartMedia since December of 2013, and has been co-hosting The Drive on KXnO alongside Heather Burnside since August of 2022.
In an email to staff at KXnO, iHeartMedia area senior vice president of programming Erik Johnson announced the promotion.
“I’m very excited to announce the promotion of Sean Roberts to the position of Program Director of KXnO/Des Moines,” wrote Johnson. “Sean has been an important member of our Des Moines team for over a decade. Over the last six months, he has stepped up to handle operations of the station through our staffing changes without missing a beat and helping the station continue to thrive. He is incredibly dedicated to making KXnO as successful as possible, and we look forward to his leadership in this position.”
KXnO has seen a number of changes to its lineup in recent months due to the November layoffs of the company. For example, Ross Peterson was removed from morning drive but began a streaming show with former producer Justin Miller in January. Miller was also a victim of the layoffs by the company. Additionally, senior vice president of programming Greg Chance was also part of the layoffs by iHeartMedia in November.
In August of last year, iHeartMedia made additional changes throughout Iowa which saw programming from KXnO airing in four additional markets. As a result, the local shows which air in Des Moines will now be heard in Sioux City, Davenport, Iowa City, and Cedar Rapids and will go by the Iowa Sports Radio Network.
Those programs include The Morning Rush, Miller and Condon, and Johnson’s program The Drive.
Looking ahead, Roberts will begin serving in his new program director role immediately. He also serves as the in-game host for Drake men’s basketball home games.
