Pioneering rocker Sly Stone has passed away at the age of 82. He was born Sylvester Stewart on March 15, 1943. Stone was known as the frontman for Sly and the Family Stone, a fusion of rock, soul, funk, and gospel.

The band’s hits included “Family Affair,” “Hot Fun In The Summertime,” “Everybody’s A Star’ and “Dance To The Music.”
