After the exit of Bob Frantz from AM 1420 The Answer, the Cleveland news/talk station has filled the timeslot with a new local show featuring Jake Underwood.
Underwood takes over the 9 AM to Noon timeslot previously occupied by Frantz. Bob Frantz had spent the past 11 years working at the station, after previously working as the evening host at crosstown 1100 WTAM.
Coincidentally, Underwood joins the Salem Media station after also previously working at 1100 WTAM. He worked at the iHeartMedia news/talk brand from 2019 to 2023 as a producer, while also working as a part-time news anchor.
Jake Underwood began his tenure earlier this week. As he began his debut show, he shared his expectations for himself and the audience.
“I’m not a national guy. I’m from here,” said Underwood. “Let me get that out of the way … I love this area. I have lived in Medina County my entire life. Brunswick, I went to Cloverleaf. People don’t claim Cloverleaf. I do, because I love it here.
“I’m from here, and I have a passion for this area, and I have a passion for the truth,” Underwood continued. “So when I see people out there just saying things for the sake of saying things so they could get likes, clicks, and retweets, I call it out. I’ve always done that, and I will continue to do that. And by all means, call me out if I’m wrong on something, call me out.”
