The return of the Artemis II space mission to Earth drew millions of viewers last week. ABC News gathered the most.
In the 7:30-8:30 PM ET window on Friday evening, ABC News garnered the most total viewers, as well as the highest total of those in the Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49.
9.8 million viewers tuned in to watch the spacecraft return to Earth just off the coast of San Diego. 2.4 million were from the Adults 25-54 demographic, while 1.9 million in the Adults 18-49 category watched the ABC News coverage.
That topped CBS News’ coverage. It featuerd 4.6 million viewers, on average. NBC News’ special coveraged averaged 4 million viewers.
However, NBC News earned more viewers in the key demographic, with 946,000 coming in Adults 25-54. That bested CBS’ 843,000. Meanwhile, in the Adults 18-49 demographic, NBC News averaged 705,000 viewers compared to the 604,000 watching on CBS News.
While ABC News topped the network news coverage, Fox News led the way in the cable news ratings with 5 million total viewers. That topped CNN (2.7 million) and MS NOW (1.4 million) on Friday evening.
CNN saw more viewers from the Adults 25-54 demographic. It featured an average audience from that sector of 597,000, besting Fox News’ 543,000, and MS NOW’s 191,000.
