96.5 KRMG Names April Hill, Steve Berg Anchors of Afternoon News Show

"They know Tulsa, they know news, and most importantly, they know how to connect with our listeners."

Date:

96.5 KRMG has named April Hill and Steve Berg as the new anchors of its afternoon news block. The duo debuted Tuesday as KRMG completed its move to 96.5 FM.

What We Know: The KRMG Afternoon News with Hill and Berg debuted Tuesday on 96.5 KRMG. Hill has served as the station’s News Director since 2012. Meanwhile, Berg previously worked at KRMG as both a reporter and anchor. The afternoon news block had remained unfilled since Skyler Cooper moved into morning drive earlier this year. Cooper took over the morning show following Dan Potter’s departure. The move also comes as KRMG completes its transition from 102.3 FM to the more powerful 96.5 FM signal.

What They Said: “April and Steve are two of the strongest voices on our news team, and bringing them together for the afternoon is a natural fit. They know Tulsa, they know news, and most importantly, they know how to connect with our listeners. We’re excited about what they’ll bring to the afternoon and to KRMG.” – Program Director Levi May

What Remains Unclear: The station hasn’t detailed whether Hill and Berg will handle additional responsibilities beyond the afternoon news block.

What It Means: The pairing gives the Tulsa news/talk station two experienced local voices during a key weekday daypart. Additionally, Hill brings more than a decade of newsroom leadership to the role. Berg’s previous experience at the station should provide familiarity for longtime KRMG listeners. As the station establishes itself on 96.5 FM, the afternoon news block gives KRMG another opportunity to reinforce its local identity.
