Urban/Hip Hop Radio Features Writer

Barrett Media delivers best-in-class coverage of the radio, television, digital, and podcasting industries with a heavy focus on sports media, news media, and music radio. Content is produced daily and distributed through our website, two newsletters, and social media platforms. We also host two annual industry conferences featuring top talent and decision makers in the sports and news broadcasting industries.

The Urban/Hip Hop Radio Features Writer opening is a weekly freelance role that involves interviewing radio broadcasters working in the Urban/Hip Hop formats, and producing stories that highlight their careers, the brands they represent, topical format news, and other issues of importance to media industry professionals. This role specifically focuses on highlighting members of the Urban/Hip Hop format, and does not include writing about other music formats or sports or news media.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Strong grammar, editing skills, communication, and relationships
• An ability to take direction, meet deadlines, and produce compelling written content
• Deep knowledge, relationship, and passion for Urban/Hip Hop music and brands/broadcasters involved in the format
• Social media savvy and a firm understanding of the importance of promoting your content across multiple platforms
