Rap legend Snoop Dogg was at the Staples Center on Saturday night for the LA Kings’ matchup with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He warmed up the crowd and performed the ceremonial puck drop. It was what he did for fans that could only experience the game on TV though that stole the show.
Snoop made his way up to the Fox Sports West TV booth and sat in with Alex Faust and Jim Fox. The event was captured on Twitter through a number of videos, including Snoop dropping phrases like “he stole on him,” “he fired on cuz,” and “get it cracking’ then” during a dust up between the Kings’ Deion Phaneuf and the Penguins’ Garrett Wilson.
Snoop did not attempt to hide his allegiance to the Kings. It’s clear in this clip from the end of the first period that he wants to see the team score a goal.
And finally, here is the pure, uncut gold that is Snoop Dogg doing hockey play-by-play.
Hockey might be one of the hardest sports to call play-by-play for, given how quickly things move. Snoop felt like he aced his audition though. He reminded reporters after the game that he has been involved with the NHL for a few years now helping bring more exposure to the game for casual fans.
