The radio voice of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Gary Dolphin, will return to the radio booth in time for the school’s spring football game. Dolphin was suspended for the remainder of the Hawkeyes’ basketball season after he referred to an African-American member of Maryland’s basketball team as “King Kong.”
Hawkeye Sports Properties initially announced that Dolphin’s suspension was indefinite. This is the second suspension for the broadcaster this basketball season. He was previously suspended when a live mic caught him criticizing an individual member of the Hawkeyes basketball team.
Dolphin’s reinstatement will be made at a press conference today. During that time Hawkeye Sports Properties will also announce that Dolphin will be back in the booth for next football and basketball seasons.
